JUST A SIMPLE DETOX
I remember those family vacations where we pulled up at a gas station with my main goal to snag a bag of Doritos and bottled Lipton Green Tea. Green Tea has always been a staple for me. Now I’m older and been introduced to brewing my own tea like my mother, I’ve really been enjoying the flavor 10x more, especially with fresh lemon and honey.
Since spring begun, I’ve seen a change in my skin. I try not to stress because I know stress is an acne trigger. I remembered reading about the amazing benefits green tea has on the body and skin, so I decided to complete a 7-day challenge for myself.
Give Me the Benefits
- Catechins help burn fat
- Antimicrobial properties kill bacteria, which helps reduce acne
- Manages blood pressure
- Regulates glucose levels
- Speeds metabolism
- Improves digestion
- Detoxifies body and system
- Improves dental health by killing bacteria, plaque & bad breath
- Re-hydrates skin
- Increases brain power and lowers stress
I Wanted to Improve…
I decided to challenge myself by drinking green tea every morning for 7 days. I wanted a natural quick way to help relieve my acne, which is probably from eating too many sweets and fried dishes. LOL! I notice whenever I eat a lot of sugar or fried food, my skin gets out of control.
I always heard you can heal yourself with the food you eat. I am aware that medicine is a blessing, which is great, but I wanted to see what I can do naturally before making another appointment with the dermatologist. You know, save a few bucks
Ultimate Green Tea Routine
Wake up every morning, eat something light like a banana, heat a cup of water 2 minutes in the microwave, add 1tbsp honey, and brew the tea bag for five minutes. The brand of tea I used was Twinnings Decaffeinated Green Tea, which had a lovely aroma 😊. Sounds cliché and typical blogger routine but I like to sip on my tea while checking my emails, commenting on blog posts, brainstorming topic ideas and working on my male blogger interviews…latest post with Ryan Mules is up!
My Results
Green tea detoxified my system making me more regular and decreased that icky bloated feeling, be sure to look at the other ways I minimize the bloat. I felt more hydrated, which is a plus because sometimes drinking plain water or water with lemon and cucumber can get kinda boring. I noticed a decrease in acne and the inflammation calmed down. My pimples shrunk, and the tea helped relieve some skin congestion. Suppressed my appetite for a while, which helped me snack less throughout the day.
Something I Didn’t Expect
After drinking green tea with honey, I noticed my taste for sugary sweets decreased. I always heard whenever you eat artificial sugar, the kind found in candy bars, it causes you to want to eat more sugar. I think the sugar does something to the brain. Since I was consuming green tea with natural honey, I felt satisfied and craved less sweets.
Overall
I would complete the 7-day drink green tea challenge again because it was helpful for my skin and acne. Of course, I will do this in moderation because I don’t my body to become used to it and the tea loses it affect. The challenge is something I would do for 7 days once a month or whenever I feel over indulgence from comfort foods or a spike in acne.
Do you drink green tea? What results have you witnessed? What other type of teas do you enjoy?

I absolutely love green tea! I was skeptical of it before I tried it but I really did find it beneficial. 😊 I actually didn’t know you could get decaffeinated green tea so I think I need to look out for that.

I drink green tea all the time and it’s amazing!!! I drink it straight (no honey or lemon). I started drinking it because I want to lose weight and detox. I also want to watch my sugar intake. Amazing review! Thank you for this!!!

This was really interesting, I like lemon green tea but I’ve never really had it on a regular basis. I definitely suffer with bloating is definitely something I’m willing to try. And the thing about the sugar and honey got me thinking too. I almost always crave sugar more throughout the day if I start my day with something sweetened usually. Great post x

I personally do not like tea. I can’t say that I have had any benefits from it. I prefer to detox my system by eating clean or no sugar for three weeks. I find that it really resets my system.

Hey Shaun, now that is a great tip. I definitely think drinking green tea for one whole week helps but only in moderation. I’m glad you shared your method because those tips can be done daily without any side effects 🙂

I’m glad I found your post! I actually just bought some green tea yesterday to try and drink throughout this week. I am constantly hearing about its beneficial properties, but have only had a handful of cups the past few years. I definitely like the sound of craving fewer sweets. I can’t pretend I don’t have a huge sweet tooth. Wonderful post!
