A CLOSET ESSENTIAL
Let’s be honest. Little black dress, black silk panties, black pencil skirt and black lace bra all have one thing in common. Guess? Ok, it’s the ability to make a woman feel confident and sexy. Am I right?
We’ve all seen those headlines, “Red is the New Black” or “Orange is the New Black” but I must say, black is black and it will never go out of style. This velvety color is a collective basic to build wardrobes and magically outline body shapes.
Nothing flaunts or creates curves like a pair of black denim. Worn in the form of jeggings, skinny, straight leg, high-waist or mom jeans, the color easily highlights you best assets.
Black denim never discriminates to eliminate.
At 14 years old, I probably wore my first pair of solid black jeans 200 times before turning them into an ash-gray color. I wore those jeans repeatedly not just for comfort but simply because I felt confident.
Now with my new size, I struggle a bit to finding the perfect fit. Selecting the ultimate pair of jeans to fit around my waist, butt and thighs is purely an adventure for me. Seriously, it is a ton of work lol!
Of course with top marketers like Fashion Nova, who cater to women with small waists and curvy booty/hips understands how to attack this issue. If you wear Fashion Nova jeans please comment below what you think about the brand, I’m really curious to trying out their clothes.
Regardless of your body shape, type or size black denim is flattering on all of us.
Today, my favorite pair of black denim is in the form of jeggings. I’m a huge fan of Jennifer Lopez’s apparel at Kohl’s. The structure and fabric are made for us curvy women.
I really like her black jeggings because of the similarity to jeans but in light-weight form. I mean, she even designed my favorite staple piece with zipper details at the ankle and pockets that sit up making your bum look higher.
No matter whether you buy your jeans from Topshop, Forever 21, Farfetch, H&M, Boohoo, Fashion Nova, Charlotte Russe or ifChic, be sure to spend some cash on black jeans because it will become an everlasting investment. Here are my top 5 reasons why:
Girl, go ahead and eat the extra slice of sausage, spinach, pepperoni and banana pepper pizza because black denim has you covered, I mean literally. Never fail, the best fabric on the market to conceal your beautiful cellulite is here.
Not that you should hide your cellulite because every woman has it on her body. But if you’re having one of those days, the kind where you feel the need to cover up, get dressed in those sleek black jeans, adding a touch of comfort and style.
You and your co-worker made plans to hit the theaters and see Bad Times at the El Royale (Btw, I can’t wait to see this) straight after work. Can’t find anything suitable to wear to work and the movies? Wear your black denim. It’s sharp, clean yet edgy making it easy to dress up or down.
Throw on a bold color blazer with your favorite statement t-shirt and have a look suitable for work and the after hours. If you guys want a post about transitional work wear to after hours tips, let me know in the comment section 🙂
HIGHLIGHT THAT ASSET!
Want a booty pop?! Ditch the blue jeans and grab the black denim. It’s true, black looks good on everyBODY type and shape. Shimmy into your black jeans for a figure flattering moment to emphasize your curves. Those with a straight frame, don’t worry you can depend on black jeans to give you a little extra shape.
Matches everything in your closet, so no more of trying to figure out which color to wear with your rainbow sweatshirt or hot pink leather jacket. For those of you who are minimalists or like the two-three color aesthetic, utilize black to tie everything together, creating a unison or common thread among your style theme.
EASY STATEMENT PIECE
Are you an individual who likes to stray away from the glitz and glamour or flashy items? Wear black. You will stand out from the crowd but in a good way. Sometimes the most simple outfits become iconic or even legendary.
Kinda like the normcore way of thinking, wearing non-flashy understated pieces such as black denim jeans and a cream turtleneck with a mule is actually fashionable. Wearing black denim is an unpretentious statement piece, making you effortlessly stylish without looking like you’re trying too hard.
