Don’t make fashion complicated, it’s suppose to be an exploratory experience right? Certainly! So you know what that means, you don’t have to do much to create a fashion statement. Sometimes the simplest item transcends your outfit into A-list fashion. Whether it’s a bold necklace, plush leopard print shoes or sequins jeans, you only need one piece to take your look from typical to original. Starting with your outerwear choices, ditch the leather jackets and knitted cardigans. I want to share with you why blazers are becoming part of my go-to closet items.
Asymmetrical, cropped, over-sized, long, quilted, double-breasted or printed this classic piece freshens any outdated look by adding more contrast to your style identity. Blazers are an honorary look among my favorite fashion bloggers such as Camila Coelho, Aimee Song, Tabitha Warley, Mary Orton, Victoria Magrath, Brittany Xavier, Addie Oh, Lydia Rose, Chloe Plumstead and Amra Olevic.

Forget all this 80's vs 90's baby debates. 60's and 70's babies are actually the lucky ones. They got to live through the 80's! . . 📸: @addieohh . . #eightiesfashion #cityblogger #dmvfashionblogger #dmvblogger #dccitystyle #dcfashion #dcfashionblogger #dmvbloggers #aboutalook #stylediaries #eightiesstyle #discoverunder10k #wocootd #9to5tohappyhour #dcbloggers #theposhstandard #instastyles #blackgirlmagic
Each style content creator has managed to showcase this classic outerwear piece as a fashion statement in forms of streetwear, casual luxe, work attire or date-night material. Either way you choose to identify with this trend, it’ll certainly kick your look up a few notches.
How to Wear Blazers
One of the greatest aspects to Instagram is the inspirational factor. I always discover style game-changers from some of my favorite fashion bloggers. You don’t need labels like Prada, Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, or Fendi across your back to declare yourself as fashionable. Style is all about transcending a mood through your clothes with confidence. Read more about developing your personal style, it’ll help you set a foundation first before dressing in your outfits.
Essentially, treat your blazer like a regular outerwear piece. Instead of a denim jacket with your peasant dress, try a cropped blazer. How about skipping your camel trench coat and throw your asymmetrical blazer over some skinny jeans? Try rolling the sleeves on your blazer and show off the length of your button-down tee.
I used to think blazers were only meant for the office, so not true!
You can wear this transformable jacket with anything. Girl you can wear this classic piece to the movies with a band tee, mini skirt and converse, you’ll look one of those LA chicks you see walking the streets. Or style your blazer as a top! That’s right, show off your bralette or wear a camisole underneath for more comfort. Even opt for a belted look with the blazer or skip the top idea and wear your blazer as a dress too.
Hey Girl, Describe Your Look!
Ever since my style revelation, mixed print and textures are a common blend for my OOTD. I’m discovering urban rock is part of my style element, which is why I couldn’t shy away from my Fergie ankle studded booties my sister gave me for Christmas. Those dazzling beauties was the one thing I wanted and Chanel bought it for me ❤ #BestLittleSis
Anyways, I forever stay in band/film merch so I wanted to take my look out of the my usual style. Typically, I wear my t-shirts with skinny jeans and canvas sneakers but for my lunch outing, I decided to try something new. Pairing my Shawn Mendes tee (also gifted by my little sis) with my Charlotte Russe high-waisted jeans was a no brainer. I tucked the over-sized t-shirt in and added my Boohoo striped blazer. I pushed the sleeves up on my blazer to add some skin to this style and break-up the block look effect.
I’ll link everything I’m wearing in my photos below with my social media contact info. These links are not sponsored or affiliated. Just your style bestie sharing with you some cool deals and places I shop for inexpensive fashion essentials. Hope you discover something new from the featured stores!
