My Morning Routine for Celebrating Christmas all December

HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL MONTH LONG!

“Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la, la la la la” December is here and it’s truly the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas is a big deal in our household. Not only do we highlight the indoors/outdoors with lots of festive decor for the holiday but we invest in Christmas themed items and activities for ourselves. We’re either reading about the birth of Jesus, wearing our Christmas sweaters, driving through enchanting holiday lit mazes, baking cookies, drinking warm holiday drinks, shopping online, visiting Christmas markets or festivals. For us, every single day of December is dedicated to celebrating Christmas.

Sometimes it’s nice to slow down and enjoy all the little things.

Waking up in December feels different that all the other months. Not only has my skincare routine adjusted to the colder and drier atmosphere but my morning activities are quite more relaxed. Check out my morning routine for celebrating Christmas all December.

Santa Mug

Whether it’s coffee or hot tea, I drink my morning beverage out of a cute Christmas mug.  My cup is filled with different warm drinks such as frosted gingerbread coffee, peppermint mocha, pumpkin spice, caramel brulee, hot chocolate or vanilla chai tea. Along with my special holiday refreshment, I also enjoy eating a breakfast pastry in front of our fully decorated-lit tree.

Elaborate Breakfast

Typical mornings, I’ll eat something quick like cereal, scrambled eggs with toast and bacon, smoothies, oatmeal or fruit for breakfast. During December, I like to take my time with making more elaborate breakfasts. I”ll spend time making my family hearty breakfast burritos, stacked sandwiches, homemade pumpkin pancakes or apple cinnamon pancakes and more. It’s just nice to go the extra mile for your loved ones around the holidays.

Christmas Playlist

Musician Liam Payne just released his song All I Want (For Christmas) and I need to add it to my holiday playlist! I like listening to the everlasting classics and the new versions of holiday tunes, especially in the morning. Music truly feeds the soul. Not only is it a beautiful way to calm down from a long day, it’s an encouraging way to kick your morning up a notch.

Holiday Films

I’m not huge on watching the news or too many celebrity gossip shows in the mornings. Around the holidays, I like to start my day off with a classic film such as Home Alone, The Polar Express or Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I know we watch these films every year and probably could recite the lines on cue but Christmas movies always feel extra special. Cheesy or not, the messages about sharing, giving, loving and being appreciate of the things you have become a sweet focal point to starting your day. Check out my list of 31 Christmas films to watch in December.

Christmas Puzzles/Word Searches/Games/Books

During this time of the year, I usually invest in reading exciting holiday cookbooks, Christmas blog posts, brainteasers, puzzles and board games. I guess for me, December is quite relaxing so it’s nice to digital detox and sit down with my sister, brother or even by myself for a round of board games.

Last year, did you know I created my own word search puzzle? I made it on Canva and I hope you find it fun to complete! You can download my FREE Christmas word search below:⤵️

Even if your morning routine is time consuming, swap out the news for a Christmas film or music playlist. Pick up a cute holiday mug from Target or a Christmas tumbler from your local craft store for your morning beverage. These minimal changes are easy ways to make your mornings in December sweet and festive.

I love celebrating Christmas. It’s one of my favorite holidays and I always start by decorating the inside of my home in November and the outside by December. Though I don’t normally make large breakfast, depending on the time, I might make a really big breakfast of either cinnamon roll, breakfast burritos, or I make apple fritters the night before to have then the next morning.

Im the same way with breakfast! I’ll either skip it overall or take something quick. But there is something special about the mornings and really taking time to enjoy preparing your breakfasts and eating it. Also the Grinch Who Stole Christmas is one of my favoriate holiday films! (:
