Effortlessly giving us plenty examples of how to layer our threads, Lewys Maceo’s style is conveniently modern with a touch of class. The 23 year old studies business administration and works at Zara’s Inditex Group. While juggling work and school, Lewys manages to keep our eyes glued to his eye-candy looks, captivating us with head turning styles that formulate and unintentionally structure into new trends.

I don’t consider myself a fashion blogger or digital influencer, just “a cool kid with cool outfits”.

Simplicity and elegance is in the name of Lewys Maceo as his vibe on Instagram is to deliver cool looks from a cool kid. Style is about expressing who you and staying true to yourself. He emphasizes to not slip in the fashion blogger hype of trying to buy overpriced items. Simply JUST BE YOU.

Other interests of his include music and traveling. Lewys has high hopes to visit his dream destination cities New York and Tokyo. His down-to-Earth vibe leads him to the enjoyment of all types of music depending on the mood. Let’s learn more about his style and journey in the blogging world of fashion.

Natonya: Hometown?

Lewys Maceo: Temporarily I live in Athens, Greece but I was born in Cuba. I was raised in The famous Old Havana until I turned 16.

Natonya: Why did you start fashion blogging?

Lewys Maceo: Well, I’m that kind of person who changes outfits 3 times if I have 3 different meetings. I love clothes and everything related with style, fashion, etc.

I like changes and I try to share my vision of men’s style. Maybe someone needs to know how dress for a specific occasion or not try something because society doesn’t approve it, like a suit with flat sneakers or some pastel colors. Seeing the work of fashion bloggers was an inspiration to me and then I thought, why not?

In regards to Instagram, I enjoy you may express yourself mostly through pictures. There is a phrase in Spanish: “Una imagen vale más que mil palabras” that means “ one picture says more than a thousand words”.

Natonya: Describe your go-to look. 

Lewys Maceo: I’m the type of person who feels comfortable wearing a basic t-shirt, trousers and sneakers. I prefer these items because you can match them easily and also be well-dressed during the day.

Natonya: What is your definition of fashion?

Lewys Maceo: It is hard for me to find a definition for fashion as it represents how to feel comfortable with the outfit you are wearing and at the same time looking good, regardless of the “trend” everyone is using at the moment. Basically, fashion is what expresses who you are.

Natonya: Five words to describe your style.

Lewys Maceo: The key to my style are two words: elegant and simple.

Natonya: Who or where do you get fashion inspo?

Lewys Maceo: My Mom was a model so I have to admit she was the first person who inspired me. The styles of rock n’ roll figures, like Lenny Kravitz, Jimmy Hendrix, Mick Jagger are some of my favorites, but I like the dominate “casual chic”.

The truth is I get ideas all the time from all the people I see on Instagram and on the streets. If I see something I like, I give it a try.

The power of social media is pretty confusing. On one hand, it’s great to be able to express your point of view, your feelings and reach people from all over the world who identify with you. On the other hand, they can be real “weapons” in the hands of some people who are interested in making a whole chaos out of nowhere.

Natonya: Favorite designers/stores/brands.

Natonya: Can’t walk out the door without wearing?

Lewys Maceo: A watch. I think that it’s the only complement a man needs in order to look great.

Natonya: What do you want people to learn from your blog?

Lewys Maceo: Obviously to enjoy it and maybe try out some new outfit ideas. I want to show it’s not necessary to wear expensive brands in order to look good.

Natonya: What are your goals with fashion blogging?

Lewys Maceo: I haven’t established certain goals, although being a reference for how to wear styles would be fantastic.

Natonya: Any bloggers who inspire your style or blog content?

Lewys Maceo: Many, I have to say the reason why I started was “The Modern Man”, a team composed of @magic_fox, @kosta_williams and @sandro. Can’t forget @marianodivaio, @justusf_hansen, @fabrizioaldobelfiore, @tommeezjerry and so many others who do a great job as bloggers.

Natonya: What magazines do you read or follow online?

Lewys Maceo: I’m not really keen on reading magazines due to the fact that their main purpose is hype. However, I do enjoy GQ which I find really inspiring. I also think I will keep up with your work from now. You are doing a really god job, keep it up.

Natonya: Who have you collaborated with? If none, which brands or companies do you want to work with?

Lewys Maceo: I haven’t collaborated yet with any brands yet. If I could choose, I would like to work with SIR of Sweden, OLYMP, Zara and my absolute dream would be a collaboration with Vans.

Natonya: What advice do you give someone trying to discover his or her style?

Lewys Maceo: He/she can look for inspiration everywhere, copying the style of famous people is also a start. However, at the end of the day it’s all about wearing something that you like and something that expresses who you are. Don’t follow the trends constantly if you are not into them, simply be unique.

Natonya: What changes would you like to see in the fashion industry?

Lewys Maceo: The Hypebeasts, I respect that trend but if it was in my hands, I would make them disappear. I don’t appreciate this bunch of people with extremely expensive clothes, shoes and accessories because the price of your fashion items doesn’t determine how “trendy” you are. The main purpose of their behavior is to make the brands they represent overpriced. In some cases, they end up looking ridiculous, as the pieces they combine don’t match and still they call that “fashion”.
