Is the cold winter air sucking all the moisture from your tresses and leaving you with EXTRA dry hair? Same. Typically during the colder months I avoid hairstyles like wash ‘n gos to minimize manipulation. I try to pick low maintenance hairstyles that don’t require me to restyle so often. With my type 4 high porosity natural hair, I usually have to reset my wash and gos at most every 3 days to avoid tangles and unnecessary breakage. Since this requires more work in the winter, I just avoid it…until now. I finally found a line that helps me achieve a wash ‘n go during the colder months without me co-washing every 2-3 days.
Creme of Nature Pure Honey Collection
How does it work on High Porosity TYPE 4 Natural Hair?
When my Influenster VoxBox arrived, my curls said, “Ah thank you sis, lately we’ve been feeling so parched!” Just like honey and its sweet nectar, a couple of items from pure honey collection are golden and definitely landed a space on my haircare shelf. I’ll be honest, not every item from this line I found necessary for my hair care regimen, however, a couple of products are going on my next shopping list. So keep reading to find out the best of this collection!
In my voxbox, I was given a shampoo, conditioner, leave-in detangler, curl activator and the original argan oil edge control for testing purposes. For this review, I’ll specifically focus on the Pure Honey items only.
Creme of Nature Pure Honey Collection is focused on replenishing dry dehydrated hair, easy detangling, restoring damaged strands and eliminating frizz. The line highlights three main ingredients in every product:
Pure Honey: not only does it add extra moisture but smooths hair strands
Rich Coconut Oil: improves manageability by repairing damaged hair strands
Creamy Shea Butter: seals in moisture and makes the hair soft
Shampoo focused on detangling, softening and adding more moisture to parched strands. Let me tell you, this lives up to its claims! Ladies, if you have high porosity hair or super dry strands this shampoo is for you! I’m super impressed with how moisturizing and conditioning the shampoo is on type 4 natural hair. It’s so creamy, the shampoo glides through tangles and doesn’t strip the hair shaft. It doesn’t contain all natural ingredients, however it leaves your hair feeling clean and soft like the all natural shampoos. SERIOUSLY, THE SHAMPOO FEELS LIKE A CONDITIONER! Although it’s sulfate-free, it thoroughly and effectively removed all the Blue Magic hair grease buildup from my hair.
Designed to control frizz and help lock in moisture. For me, this rinse-out conditioner was ok. Nothing special. It didn’t dry out my curls but it didn’t leave me feeling like it made a necessary difference on my strands. It’s one of those products I would use if it was given to me as a free sample but not something I would purchase on my own. Yes, I was left with soft hair but I felt like the shampoo was way more beneficial in conditioning that I could skip the conditioner and go straight to a hair mask. That’s how moisturizing and easy detangling the shampoo is on dry natural hair.
This leave-in was created to help reduce tangles, repair split ends, add moisture and smooth hair to prep for styling. It’s very thick and creamy, so I would definitely thin it out a bit with water in a 360 spray bottle. Personally, I didn’t find this product necessary for alone use. However, it made a huge difference on my wash ‘n go. It added extra moisture when paired with the Pure Honey Curl Activator.
The curl activator is made to eliminate shrinkage by elongating curls and coils, add moisture, extra shine and give a bounce for soft curls. Ok, this product is tricky but when used right, you’ll see incredible results! For starters, it has a sticky thick but kind of running consistency. Don’t worry, your hair doesn’t dry sticky. However, when paired with the knot-away detangler, my hair didn’t feel sticky at all during application. It ABSOLUTELY DEFINED MY TYPE 4 CURLS, left NO FLAKES or WHITE RESIDUE and didn’t weigh down my hair at all. I certainly had soft bouncy curls. A little goes a long way, especially if you use it on soaking wet hair.
Let’s talk about the tricky part, how to use this curl activator for the most benefits:
Personally, I recommend applying this curl activator on damp hair so you’ll see the elongating effect. No it won’t make your curls hang super long but your hair doesn’t shrink back to your head like a TWA. Using this made my hair last about 4 days before co washing and I applied a little here and there to dry curls on Day 3. Now after co-washing and using the curl activator alone, I didn’t get the same results. Maybe I had product buildup or maybe I needed to pair it with the knot away detangler but my hair wasn’t as bouncy and seemed to dry out faster. Next time, I’ll use the shampoo to remove product buildup and pair it with the knot-away detangler for much better results.
Natonya, Any Final Thoughts?
Overall the line delivers pretty great results in terms of adding back moisture and repairing damaged ends. I saw way less shedding, tangles and breakage. My hair wasn’t left dried out and felt much softer throughout the week. Those of you with super dry strands or high porosity hair, you’ll definitely benefit from this line because the products are aimed at adding more moisture and laying cuticles flat.
Have you tried the Pure Honey Collection? Which product appeals to you most from the line?
